A lot of homeowners getting their first EV run into the same problem - the existing panel just isn't built for it. Older GE panels like the one we started with here are maxed out. No room for a dedicated circuit, breakers already doubled up, and wiring that's seen better days. Throwing a charger on a system like that isn't safe. It's a shortcut that leads to tripped breakers at best, and a real hazard at worst.

So we started from scratch. New panel, clean wiring, and a properly dedicated circuit for the EV charger. The new Square D panel gives this home the capacity it actually needs - not just for charging today, but for anything else down the road. That yellow 2-pole breaker you can spot in the new panel? That's the dedicated circuit feeding the charger. Sized correctly, protected correctly.

The charger itself is a Toyota-branded Level 1/Level 2 unit, mounted clean on the garage wall with the cord looped on a proper hanger. Everything is organized and accessible. No cord draped across the floor, no extension cords involved - just a solid, permanent setup that works every time you pull in.

This is exactly the kind of job where doing it right from the start saves money down the line. A panel that's struggling to keep up will eventually let you know - usually at the worst possible time. When the electrical foundation is solid, the rest of it just works.

If you're adding an EV to your household and want to make sure your system is ready to handle it, this is the kind of work we do. Panel upgrades and EV charger installs go hand in hand, and we handle both ends of it so nothing gets overlooked.
